Lindsey Theis joined Big Canvas after being a featured player for more than a year. She brings five years of improv experience and fifteen years of theatre experience to the table. When she’s not doing improv, you can probably see her reporting on a story that will make you smile on KMTV Action 3 New’s Upfront at 4.

What I do: First off, Theis is pronounced like Peace, but with a "Th" sound! I love improv and have found a passion for implementing improv in everyday life. It has helped me as I moved around a bunch (I’m now happy to call Omaha home). I have performed in numerous theatre production since age 8, and have been playing improv since signing up for a class in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I performed long and short for improv with Carolina Improv Company, and then continued long form at the Backline. I still perform long form regularly with Omaha teams Words with Friends with Benefits, As Seen on TV, and Cage Free, an organic harold team.
Background & Influences: I came from a school that really focused on the basics and fundamentals of improv, and then building on that to be successful and funny in life and onstage. Some of my biggest influences have come from fellow improvisors/teachers: Petra Sander, Gina Trimarco, Justin Franzen, Chad Fogland, Daisy Faith, Rachel Mason, Tracie Mauk, and Tim Schoenfeld.
Teaching philosophy: I especially enjoy teaching how improv skills can help with your daily work life and relationships. I also believe in learning by doing with less talk and collaboration. The thing really great about the Big Canvas approach is that we’ll always have one teacher leading classes, but other members participating to help give tips and notes for individuals.
